Wonder what my 89 325is would go for if I cleaned it up, replaced some rubber and wear items would go for

This may creep up a bit further, too - - in the last 10 minutes, there’s either a frenzy, or dead silence. At a quick glance, that one looks pretty clean, with pretty tasteful mods - not that many of these left that haven’t been hacked to bits, I think.

Yea. I long had visions of a clean-ish iX when I finished grad school, but it’s starting to look like a decent E30 is gonna be out of my budget.

I don’t watch the E30's as closely as I do E39's or 2002's on BaT, but my sense is that the price is VERY sensitive to the drivetrain combination, and what modifications have been made (as well as condition of course). Depending on how flexible you are on that, you can still find them - the 325e’s are unloved, as are the 4-doors, and I think the 318's aren’t too wild, as long as they’re not a 318is.

I have a similar problem. I have a 91 325i sport package that was going to go S52/5-lug but now I wonder if I should keep it as stock as possible. Mine has been in an accident before, so the collector appeal is probably very low

So you’ve seen that 2002, then? I nearly cried, it was so pretty.

Which one, LOL? I think they sell 2-3 per week on BaT.

I presume you’re referring to the tii that just went up today - it’s stunning, and I loooooove that color combo, too. The 1600 that closes in an hour would be a stupid fun car to hoon, too...

Been a long time now.

I had an ‘89 325i that was in good condition years ago... it was $600. I cannot believe what they are going for these days, wouldn’t pay close to half that. I see it as a really great $1000 car, the driving experience just wouldn’t be worth much more than that to me.

I got mine from my dad who got it from the original owner. It’s got a dented fender and some dings but nothing awful really. Just needs freshening

I started seeing 5k+ E30s when I bought my Pontiac back in 2010...the window has been shutting for a while. Four doors are a bit cheaper, and watch out for all the 325es with the ‘e’ strategically removed from both the car and the ad.

A car with an accident history arguably has negative value to a collector banking on the insane perception that E30s, even clean ones, are rare...all the affordable driver-quality ones are screwing things up for them. But a nicely modified driver has plenty of value to enthusiasts.

If it’s black on black and mechanically sound, I’d be interested.
